Character study…

An A3 character study.

I really enjoyed pencilling this character study of another of the new characters for Greener Pastures: The End. I was lucky enough to have a sleeping, leather jacket wearing life model on the bus the evening prior during my regular commute sketching session (see here), and that really helped in rendering this fellow's jacket.

  1. Beautiful pencils, Tim! Very emotive, and the structure of the large face is fantastic :D

  3. Thanks Paul and Marcelo. I'm hoping I don't wreck it when it comes to the inking. I always feel there's a certain spontaneity lost once the brush and pen start to clean up what a lot of the pencils kind of only imply. It's when I have to decide exactly which line is correct, instead of letting the viewer's mind's eye decide.

  4. Great work Tim. Yes, i also find the inking process quite the challenge at times :) the ink lines can have as much life as the pencils, for example in bill seinkiewicz's work and theres always white out to fix those errant lines :)
